About the Racing to Help Feature (written by ATOBA):
After 118 years, this is the final season of Thoroughbred racing at Northlands Park. As part of our Salute to Northlands, we have developed the "Racing to Help" initiative, which is our way to show our gratitude and give financial support to charities who are making a difference in the community.
Horse Racing Alberta is our first contributing sponsor, and they have chosen Thoroughbred Lasting Careers Society - TLCS (TLCS) as their charity. Their mission is to provide Thoroughbred racehorses with a second career when their racing days are over.
“Thoroughbred horses are recognized worldwide for their breathtaking beauty, spirit, versatility, agility and speed,” said Shirley McClellan, Horse Racing Alberta’s CEO. “The Alberta horse racing and breeding industry is proud to support the Thoroughbred Lasting Careers Initiative.”
We are thrilled about the first recipient and a $5,000 cheque will be presented to Thoroughbred Lasting Careers Society in the winner’s circle at Northlands Park today!
