After 118 years, this is the final season of Thoroughbred racing at Northlands Park and so a"Racing to Help" initiative, has been developed to show gratitude and give financial support to charities who are making a difference in the community.
Horse Racing Alberta was the first contributing sponsor and chose the Thoroughbred Lasting Careers Society - TLCS (TLCS) as their charity.
Their mission is to provide Thoroughbred racehorses with a second career when their racing days are over.
“Thoroughbred horses are recognized worldwide for their breathtaking beauty, spirit, versatility, agility and speed,” said Shirley McClellan, Horse Racing Alberta’s CEO. “The Alberta horse racing and breeding industry is proud to support the Thoroughbred Lasting Careers Initiative.”
